Installation: I installed my own blinds!
The nearly 8' wide blinds were quite hard to install with only one person, but I guess that should have been expected. One blind only had one up-down handle with it and another blind's "energy tracks" were the wrong size and had to be cut down, but it was easier for me to do it myself than call and to wait until the new ones arrived, plus I don't like the idea of the extra waste it would have created.
Once up, however, they look great!

These Energy Track shades are a good idea in theory.

These Energy Track shades are a good idea in theory. After buying and installing them, I wouldn't spend the extra money on them. They were a lot more money then a regular Double Cell Shade would have been, but I spent the extra money because I just bought a house and the windows are horribly insulated. Unfortunately, the material of the actual shade is so thin that I doubt they insulate very much at all. Even with the Energy Tracks on the side you can still feel a slight draft at the bottom and sides of the shades, due to the thinness of the material the shades are made of. If I did it over, I would have saved a couple hundred dollars and got the regular shades instead. That, and it took over a month and a half for Blind Chalet to get me the right mounting brackets for them. In the original shipment they sent the wrong ones, and when I called to tell them, the quickly sent me out another package with the right ones, unfortunately, that new package was short two brackets that I needed, so I had to call back again and have some more sent out, resulting in one of my windows sitting for a month and a half with a blanket over it. At least their customer service was fast and easy to deal with, and I didn't have to pay for any replacements to ship.

Installation: I installed my own blinds!
This is a great product. We live in a mountain valley and have a bank of north facing windows. They are great during the summer but in the winter the cold just pours off them with a ghost draft. We put these up and it's made a huge difference, even in below zero weather.
We got the translucent version and that's been great as our room is still light during the day. The installation went pretty well after the first window. Our first window was also the biggest and needed three brackets. Getting them all on at once was a challenge until we figured it out. After that, all the other windows went up really easily.....even the ones up high and involving a ladder. I love the side tracks which help "seal" the window much more. My advice in measuring yourself is to measure three times though. If you want a seal, you have to get it right. Blinds Chalet did exactly what I sent in and their instructions for measurement are spot on.
All in all, these are great blinds and at a price half of what the larger brands offer.
